Favorite Quotes:
She saw the stars in his eyes, a slow awakening of joy in his face.
And now she was finally being held by the father of her soul, the man who had loved her in his own quiet, steel-sharpened way.
Failure is never final unless you choose it to be.
There is steel within me.
I will not bend.
I will not break.
The firelight flickered through the room, a dance of gold and shadows.
There is always more strength to draw from. You must find where it hides and wield it.
Review:
Sisters of Sword and Song by Rebecca Ross caught me by surprise. This story is about two sisters who are quite opposite. I really thought it was interesting on how mythology was woven into this story. There are nine divine gods and each of them have left a magical relic for others to find.Evadne is the sister that stayed home. She has a limp from an old energy and is always overlooked. One thing I really liked about Evadne is she didn't let her unfortunate circumstances get her down. She found strength and she learned that maybe she may look week to others but really she is strong.
Halcyon is the warrior of the family. She left home as a child to go train with the legion. She is strong, fearless, and successful at everything. Everything takes off in the story when Halcyon shows up in trouble because she did something terrible.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought the world building was great and the plot was fast moving. I look forward to getting a finished copy to have on my bookshelf.
