Dazzled by Books

I was really excited for "Never, Never" by Brianna Shrum, but I just didn't fall in love with it like everyone else. This is a retelling of Peter Pan through James Hook's eyes. James Hook is just a boy when the story begins. James Hook meets Peter Pan an ends up becoming a Lost Boy in Netherland. When James Hook realizes that he wants to go home, he finds out that it is impossible to go back home. Eventually Hook ends up going off by himself to become the fearsome Captain Hook. I just wasn't in love with this story. I feel like the characters were very flat, and as the reader I was just disinterested in the story.
