“All’s Fair in Love and Cupcakes” by Betsy St. Amant did not live up to my expectations at all. Kat is our main character and she has no confidence in herself. Kat works at her aunt’s cupcake shop and dreams of one day owning her own cupcake shop. In the beginning the lack of confidence made Kat relatable but as the story wen on it was hard to relate to Kat because she became very annoying in the story.
Lucas has been best friends with Kat since middle school and he has always had a crush on her. Lucas already has marriage and babies on his mind way before the reader ever gets a chance to know him as a character and cheer for him to be with Kat. It is almost like butting into the middle of the story.
This story was really hard to get into because it seemed like the reader was more in the characters head rather than watching them interact together. This plot and story was pretty decent it was just how the story was written that irritated me to no end. It was just hard to get into a story where the characters interacted as little as possible.
