The Shadow Queen by C.J. Redwine is so good. I really enjoyed getting to know Lorelai and Koi. I love there banter and cute swoony moments. I think that the characters in this normal fit perfectly together. I really enjoyed the story and plot. The characters are developed well and really get you hooked. I became invested in these characters and really wanted to know how they ended up. I was expecting this story to be more from the point of view of the evil queen and it was not. I was slightly disappointed but got over that quite soon […]

It took me awhile to read Fairest by Marissa Meyer because I wasn’t sure if I could feel sympathetic towards Levana. I also wasn’t sure if I wanted to know her story. After reading the new graphic novel Wires and Nerves by Marissa Meyer, I decided I wanted to get to know Levana more. I was ready. Fairest was amazing. I was so surprised at the content that I got. I felt so bad for everything Levana went through. Now this didn’t mean I liked her because she is still the villain that I love to hate but this book […]

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken is a journey. When Passenger first came out, I tried to read it but it was so slow that I had to give up. I decided to try it again this year. Knowing that the beginning of Passenger was going to be really slow due to the world building, I was more prepared for round two. As the story moved forward I became hooked. Ella gets thrown into a world that she didn’t know existed. Etta comes from a family of time travelers but she was unaware of this unique gift. It is very interesting learning […]

Futhermore by Tahereh Mafi is an addicting and fast read. Mafi does a fabulous job. Ferenwood is such a colorful place. There rules are so odd. I love that not only to I get to learn about one town but then we get to learn about the world of Furthermore. Mafi immerses the reader into her story so seamlessly. I really like Alice’s character. She is determined, funky, and fun. Alice has so much energy. This girl wants to be the best that she can. She wants to be loved and appreciated even though she has a lack of color. […]

Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is just as good as Illuminae. I love that we got to meet new characters and a new ship. Once again Kaufman and Kristoff brought readers a really good story. I love that Marie Lu did the beautiful illustrations. Like Illuminae, I listened to the audio book and read the book at the same time. This time around, we are introduced to Hanna and Nik. Hanna and Nik have amazing chemistry. It is extremely enhoyable to get to knwo these new character and new ship. I love that this book is a companion […]

Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch is an amazing conclusion to the Snow Like Ashes series. I really enjoyed Meira. Meira has grown up so much since book one. It is amazing that this series started out with Meira feeling worthless and only wanted to find her place in the world to a Meira that is a kick-ass Queen fighting for her people. Angra is one of the best villains I’ve read. He plays the perfect bad guy. Angra is affecting many of the kingdoms with the decay. The one thing brought out different sides of our characters that I […]

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff is amazing. I am sorry my review is so late. I recently found out that I forgot to review it. Illuminae is fantastic. If you can do audio books, I recommend reading the book along with listening to the audio book. It is so good. The audio book makes you feel like you are apart of the story itself. I love space books. I think Illuminae definitely tops the charts. Illuminae tells the stories of Kady and Ezra. These two teens are trying to survive, but at the same time, they are trying […]

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo was marvelous and sinister. I really like Crooked Kingdom. Bardugo takes her readers on a wild and crazy ride. The action and tension in this book kept me on the edge of my seat. The characters are amazing. I recently reviewed Six of Crows where I raved about each member of the Dreg. I feel like this story gets better and better as time went on. I found myself not being able to put Crooked Kingdom down. Kaz, Nina, Inej, Matthias, Wylan, and Jesper are fabulous characters. I am in love with each and everyone […]

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Heartless by Marissa Meyer is a wonderful retelling. Heartless is not a traditional retelling though. It is more of a prequel that is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Someone asked me what villian I thought was the most misunderstood and my answer is the Queen of Hearts. Then they asked me why I thought the Queen of Hearts is misunderstood. Talking to this person, they thought if I wrote a blog post about it to explain, then I could share why I think that. My answer is…read Heartless and you have my answer right there. I hadn’t read Heartless at […]
