Of Neptune by Anna Banks is a great conclusion to the Syrena series. Emma is told about a secret place of Syrena half-breeds. Gaelin and Emma end up finding this place and of course Emma wants to stay and learn more. Gaelin and Emma get into a fight and Gaelin takes off. Emma being stranded in Neptune decides to learn everything she can about this town. It definitely helps that Reed, a Syrena half-breed is there to keep Emma company. Reed is definitely a relentless flirt and Emma isn’t totally sure what to think. Gaelin and Emma have issues just […]

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth is so good. I know there is so much controversy regarding this book. I even was attacked and unfriended by people who were upset about me posting Instagram pictures. Here is my answer towards all for that, if a book is already on my TBR and there is controversy, I am still going to read the  book. I deserve to form my own opinion. I am not one who decides to read or not read a book because of drama. With that being said here is my review. Review: I enjoyed Carve the Mark. […]

Heartless by Marissa Meyer is a wonderful retelling. Heartless is not a traditional retelling though. It is more of a prequel that is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Someone asked me what villian I thought was the most misunderstood and my answer is the Queen of Hearts. Then they asked me why I thought the Queen of Hearts is misunderstood. Talking to this person, they thought if I wrote a blog post about it to explain, then I could share why I think that. My answer is…read Heartless and you have my answer right there. I hadn’t read Heartless at […]

“The Glittering Court” by Richelle Mead is excellent. This is my first book by Mead. Number One, this cover is gorgeous. I am in love with the cover. It is so beautiful. Characters- Adelaide is amazing. I love that she is sassy. She is outspoken. Adelaide is brave. Being born into privileged didn’t make Adelaide happy; it made her absolutely miserable. She wanted to be free, so she found a way to become free. Adelaide didn’t know what was ahead of her but she was willing to take that leap. Tamsin is on my love and hate list. Sometimes she […]

Beastly Bones by William Ritter

Beastly Bones by William Ritter

“Beastly Bones” by William Ritter was a great sequel to “Jackaby.” In “Jackaby,” we were able to meet some fabulous characters. I am excited to get to visit these characters again. What I didn’t like: Not as much sleuthing Relationship are under-developed The Sleuthing: Jackaby and Miss Rook didn’t do as much sleuthing as the first book. The mystery wasn’t as predictable as the first book either but their didn’t seem to be very many clues to follow up on this time around. I feel like the investigation itself was not very exciting. Relationships are under-developed: The relationships between each […]

Oh “Winter” The end of the “Lunar Chronicles” is upon us. “Winter” by Marissa Meyer is essentially the last novel in the “Lunar Chronicles.” It is always sad when a great series comes to an end. I am going to start off with something new and start off with what I didn’t like first. What I didn’t like: Book was way too long Wolf Beauty Let me elaborate. Length: I feel like parts of the book were drawn out for no reason but to create length. Many times I felt like the book was coming to an end but there […]

Check out my review of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs here. Graphic Novel Specific: The graphic novel is easy to read. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that it is mostly black and white. i was hoping for more color. I think the creepy vintage photos fit a whole lot better. Thoughts: “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs is a unique tale of children with some special abilities. I still don’t know how I feel about this book. I read this book for book club and we wanted to get ready for the movie that is coming out in September. I don’t know how to feel about this book. It is definitely peculiar. I am not sure the book being peculiar is enough. Things can be interesting and fun but I felt lost and completely outside the story. One thing that Riggs does have with this story is […]

“An Ember in the Ashes” by Sabaa Tahir is a book that I have been waiting on jumping on the band wagon. It wasn’t one that I was refusing to read, it was more a book that I wanted to read but because it was posted everywhere I wanted to wait. The waiting is up now and I am finished. I really enjoyed “An Ember in the Ashes.” I thought the book was extremely good. World Building The world building was impressive. I thought Tahir did an excellent job with her world building. I wasn’t expecting to have such a […]

“The White Rose” by Amy Ewing has such a beautiful cover. I love it so much. I actually thought “The White Rose” was a lot better than “The Jewel.” I really enjoyed the story and how the characters were developing even more. Some characters back stories were revealed like Ash. Violet has Raven picked up in her stead. Ash is wrongly accused of raping Violet. Violet and Ash flee. Ash, Violet, and Raven are beginning their journey together by escaping to ‘The White Rose.’ They have a few bumps along the way and some complications. These three end up making […]
