Shadows of Men by M. Lee Holmes

Shadows of Men by M. Lee Holmes is very interesting. This book was not what I was expecting at all. I was a bit surprised to say the least. This book does have rape in it. I want to start that off and it has pretty graphic violence. There is your second warning before I begin this review. Shadows of Men starts with Viktor choosing his successor. The way a successor is chosen, is the sword chooses and then Viktor stabs the successor and then gives them their life back. It is a bit weird and gross but that is […]

The Secret Servant by Shanna Moncuse

The Secret Servant by Shanna Moncuse was a surprising read. Evangeline has been trained from a young age to guard Princess Kailani. While she is guarding Princess Kailani, Evangeline is supposed to take on the role of a servant girl. Evangeline is very loyal to her friend and princess. These two become as thick as thieves. So when the princesses life is in danger, Evangeline is quick to figure out who it is. I really liked the world that Moncuse has created. I think the world building could use a bit of work but ultimately it isn’t bad. I enjoyed […]

One of the Few by Jason B. Ladd

One of the Few by Jason B. Ladd

“One of the Few” by Jason B. Ladd covers so many complex topics. The book really digs deep to bring out some thought-provoking questions. Ladd starts the reader off with discussing his childhood and how he grow up and then goes through and shares his military experiences. Ladd was looking for true faith and where to find it. I think Ladd does a great job sharing his experience and explaining all of the military terms. I appreciated that Ladd took the time to find examples that made sense to me. The pop culture references added a bit of flair and […]

Wrath of the Fallen by Kristopher Jerome

Wrath of the Fallen by Kristopher Jerome

“Wrath of the Fallen” by Kristopher Jerome was given to me by Jerome himself. We met at a social media seminar. When he found out that I am a book blogger, he asked if I was willing to take a look at his book. So here is my review and this is my honest and unbiased opinion. The Plot – The plot of “Wrath of the Fallen” has a bit of a slow start. The story begins by introducing all the characters. I feel like the pace would have moved a bit faster if it wasn’t all at the beginning. […]

I liked “Air Awakens” and I thought Kova did an even better job with “Fire Falling,” but what happened with “Earth’s End?” I am going to share what I liked and what I didn’t like and then go from there. What I liked: The book started out super strong. “Fire Falling” ended on a cliff hanger, so it was nice that the reader was able to find out information right away. Vhalla’s character growth was great. I think that Vhalla is growing with each book. Her personality is expanding and she is learning new things about herself. Vhalla has grown […]

I think “The Dragon of the Month Club” by Iain Reading was a very cute read. I think that “The Dragon of the Month Club” can be enjoyed by any type of reader, but I foudn that it is geared more to Middle Grade than Young Adult. Ayana and Tyler discover a book that has a spell in it that will summon a dragon each moth. This starts as some harmless fun for the two of them until a dragon transports them into another book that was lying open on Tyler’s bed. Now they have to find their way back […]

Book Review: The Kingdom Lights by Steven VS

“The Kingdom Lights” by Steven VS was definitely an entertaining book but it was super predictable. I didn’t find myself connecting to anyone in the story at all. I just found that honestly I really couldn’t get into the story. The characters really seemed to be unemotional. Characters are a big thing for me, so if I feel like I can’t connect or enjoy the characters, then I have a hard time getting into the story. I think the idea was great, it just wasn’t executed very well. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer […]

My Teaser: Jack hung onto the rim for dear life, trying not to slide inside. he glanced up. On the other side of the rim was a large centipede, almost the size of Jack. It began crawling along the rim-angling straight for him! Suddenly the centipede’s fleet of legs started skating on the slick surface. jack shook the rim. The insect lost all of its footings and plunged down into the pool of digestive enzymes. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR. Book Review: What Stands in a Storm by Kim Cross

“What Stands in a Storm” by Kim Cross is a very emotional read. This book tells the story of several tornadoes that destroyed several southern states in 2011. The history and facts of these storms are only a small portion of this book. This book goes through on how people survived the storm. People have to band together and help each other in the time of need. This story is divided up into three parts. The first part is “The Storm.” The second part is “The Aftermath” and the third part is “The Recovery.” In the first part we meet […]
