“The Summer of Chasing Mermaids” by Sarah Ockler is my first experience to Ockler’s writing. This story is loosely based off of “The Little Mermaid.” Ockler took this adaption (it isn’t really a retelling) and made a real and relatable story to it. Elyse is a beautiful young girl that has lost her drive for life. She used to be a very talented singer and was planning on becoming famous with her twin sister Natalie. However all of her dreams went up in smoke. Elyse is now afraid to go into the ocean and she no longer has her voice after a terrible accident. Losing her voice ment […]

“After Perfect” by Christina McDowell was a very raw and intriguing story. Christina Prousalis was used to living a life of luxury that most people couldn’t even imagine. One day everything falls a part as her father is arrested for securities fraud. Christina’s father was a lawyer who lived life way beyond his means. Mr. Prousalis was one of the guilty players that was collateral fallout of Jordan Belfort, who was the “Wold of Wall Street”. Christina worshipped her father and thought he was the greatest. Christina decides to share her memoir in “After Perfect” on how she had to recover from […]
“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han is one of the sweetest most fun contemporaries that I have read. Lara Jean has written private letters to the boys that she had previously loved. She never intended the boys to read the letters, it was her way of getting over them. Then Lara Jean’s sister breaks up with her boyfriend and Lara Jean finds out that she may still be in love with her sister’s boyfriend. When Lara Jean’s letters end up getting mailed out to all the boys that she wrote them to, she ends up having […]
My Teaser: “There was a rumor last year that she made you get a tattoo of her initials on your butt for her birthday.” I pause. “So did you?” I reach around him and fake try to lift up the back of his shirt. He yelps and jumps away from me, and I collapse in a fit of giggles. “So you do have a tattoo!” About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR. I know I am a little late to the “Everneath” band wagon, but it is better to be late than never. I really enjoyed “Everneath” by Brodi Ashton. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out at all. Some authors can write really good adaptions for Greek mythology and others not so much but I think Ashton did a great job with adaption. Nikki “Becks” Beckett is a teenager girl who went missing for six months. Most everyone thought that she was on drugs but Nikki hasn’t told anyone the truth of where she truly was and what […]

“Torn” by K.A. Robinson was an interesting read. There were several times that Robinson had me on the verge of tears. Chloe has had a hard life. All she wants is to stay away from her mother. Chloe grew up in an unstable household where her mother didn’t love her and abused her. Chloe is not in college and she is trying to figure out her own way and her own life. Chloe ended up being blessed with two friends Amber and Logan. Amber is Chloe’s best friend. Chloe used to live with Amber she she was in school and […]
