“Curio” by Evangeline Denmark was a very interesting read. I was really interested in reading this book because it seemed so fascinating. I was stoked to get to enter this work but I found myself just being overly confused a lot. There really wasn’t any world building. The reader is tossed into a world that they know nothing about and no one takes the time to explain it. I think this story had a great idea, but I just feel like it just didn’t have what I was looking for. I was a bit disappointed. I think if there was […]

Book Review: Waistcoats & Weaponry by Gail Carringer

Book Review: Waistcoats & Weaponry by Gail Carringer

I am kind of curious if “Waistcoats & Weaponry” by Gail Carringer is the end of the series or if there will be more books. I have to say that I am truly disappointed with this series. I think this series has the best covers ever but I am so disappointed with this series. I felt bored the entire way through. I don’t feel like each story is gett wrapped up at all and I can’t seem to fall in love with any of the characters. I would think that with Carringer being such a popular author that we would see […]

My Teaser: They returned with donkey and helium just as the air-dinghy basket tumbled off the roof of the gazebo with a crash. Fortunately, it survived intact. Felix and Soap righted it and jumped inside to unroll and throw out the four balloons. While they wrestled the sail and mast up the middle, the girls and Roger unrolled the balloons and began to fill them with helium. There was no way to rush this part, although Sophronia kept glancing back to the house, where the shifting lights were her only clue that all was still chaos in the ballroom. About […]

Book Review: Curtsies & Conspiracies by Gail Carringer

Well…”Curtsies and Conspiracies” by Gail Carriger did not impress me at all. I was hoping things would get better from “Etiquette and Espionage” but sadly they did not. “Curtsies and Conspiracies” started to get a little better in the beginning. It seemed to be moving a whole lot faster than the first novel but then I was disappointed again. I felt like the story was just dragging on. Where is the action and the plot? I feel like the synopsis has very little to do with the book. Part of the problem is the writing. Again I have not read […]

Book Review: Extraction by Stephanie Diaz

Book Review: Extraction by Stephanie Diaz

I am not totally sure where to start with “Extraction” by Stephanie Diaz. I was extremely disappointed with this book. A huge reason is because I felt like a lot of it was copy catting other books. I know a lot of stories are going to be similar and similar story lines but this one just felt way too familiar. I feel like there is was too many things that are like the Hunger Games, Divergent, Ender’s Game, and a few more. It was like there were many ideas taken from each book and shoved into another one. Even the characters […]

Excerpt: I look up. The green lights are brighter now, lining silver cages on either side of me and above. Some of the cages are giant, while others are small. They float throughout the pit, some so near, we must’ve swam right past them. My heart beats in my fingertips. Inside the cages are the animals of the sea. The fish are easiest to recognize, since I’ve seen pictures of ones like them before. In the smaller cages, they’re only as big as my fist, but fatter. One has eyes that change color and stringy tentacles like whiskers. Another has […]
