“Dark Energy” by Robinson Wells was a lot better than I was expecting but still a bit disappointing in the end.  The story was lacking an ending to me. I feel like it wasn’t completely wrapped up in the end. I will explain more as I go on. The story starts off with Alice. She is being moved to a new town to go to a private high school that is for the rich and talented children. Alice is being moved here because her dad is the director of special projects for NASA and there happens to be an alien […]

I ended up with the first eARC. Then the author updated it so I downloaded the second eARC. The second eARC was much better than the first however “Nirvana” was still not the book for me. Having read the first eARC and then getting the second one it is really hard not to compare the two. The characters ages changed. It seemed like bits and pieces of the story were disappearing. I really didn’t like it. I feel like both of the drafts came out way too soon for the story. It isn’t completely developed or thought out like it […]

Ali: Hello L.J. Hatton. Thank you so much for stopping by at Dazzled by Books today. Hopefully we will be able to have a little bit of fun with this interview. Let’s kick it off with what is your favorite book of 2016 so far?   L.J. Hatton: I’ve been a terrible reader this year. Between real life (aka the exploding washing machine…) and working on Book 3 for the Celestine series, I haven’t read any books. But if we extend it to the end of last year, then my favorites are The Last Ever After (School for Good and […]

Bluescreen by Dan Wells

“Bluescreen” by Dan Wells was not at all what I was expecting. I was disappointed. I had very high hopes for this novel and I can admit that maybe having those high of hopes were NOT completely fair. I really liked the SCI-FI and Technology of the story. I was just extremely disappointed with how everything was executed. I felt so lost in “Bluescreen.” There was a point that I was 170 pages in and I was like “I really had no idea where this story is going.” This novel is about a group of teens that have something called a […]

My Teaser:  She turned toward the shore, but couldn’t make herself move. She was shivering. her stomach was hollow. Her weighted leg pulled her down again and it took the strength of a thousand wolf soldiers for her to climb back to the surface. Water flooded her mouth and she spat as soon as her head broke through the waves, but it was useless. “Saga” is a space opera that is so very addicting. Alana is from the planet Landfall and Marko hails from the planet’s moon Wreath. These two peace have beeen at war for years. Alana and Marko end up falling in love. Then if you fast-forward several months, at least 9, Alana gives birth to their child Hazel. Hazel is the narrator of the story. This graphic novel series is one of the most talked about. My best friend Iris (@Irisjexx) decided to start this series together. I love graphic novels but until recently I didn’t own any. I usually would […]

Why I am Waiting? I am waiting because  I am a huge fan of Dan Wells. I love sci-fi so I am really looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us now. I think this will end up being a really good series. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR. I was definitely waiting forever to finish this one and finally I am done. Not totally sure what to do with myself. The “Shatter Me” series is complete. Where am I supposed to go from here? I think this series has changed my mind about so many predictions and likes and dislikes since the first book. I don’t think I switched around my shipping teams so much in a series. Usually I choose one and stick to it, but I feel like I got to know Warner and Adam so much in these books that I would be happy with […]

I’ve been writing science fiction for about eight years, but I’ve been a fan of it all my life. Sci fi is a vast genre that can encompass everything from near-future medical advancements to far-flung tales of aliens and spaceships. Yet all successful sci-fi has a few common elements. What are they? The answer is in the genre’s name. First, you need some science. This is more complicated than is sounds. Some purists insist sci-fi isn’t sci-fi unless it includes “hard” science elements, like an explanation of how a spaceship’s fission engine works. However, hard science fiction is only one […]
