“Fire Falling” by Elise Kova was definitely a much better book. Everyone is always worried about whether or not the second book would be the sophomore slump book and I think Kova was able to overcome this. Kova really got into Vhalla’s character in this book. Vhalla gained so much confidence in this book. It was so great. It made me happy to see Vhalla to finally be a confident character. Kova’s writing is fantastic. She did a great job writing this book. Everything sounds great. I loved her style and how she tells the story. I think “Fire Falling” […]

“Air Awakens” by Elise Kova was enjoyable. It is the first book in a series by Elise Kova. “Air Awakens” follow Vhalla, who is a library apprentice whose research saved the life of the Crown Prince. This Prince has a fire affinity and he was able to detect Vhalla’s magic right away. Vhalla hates sorcerers and she is very against magic. To learn that she should be practicing magic, Vhalla begins several states of denial. The Prince doesn’t give up because he wants her to learn and to become who she was always meant to be. I really like how […]

Ali: Thank you Nora for stopping by Dazzled by Books today. It is really great to have you here. I want to start off this interview with a hard question but it is totally good, what is your favorite book of 2016 so far? Nora: Not that any of them were published in 2016, but of the books I’ve read so far this year, I’ve really enjoyed All The Bright Places (YA), Big Little Lies (Women’s Fiction) and All The Light We Cannot See (Literary). (There’s a “light” theme apparently.) I am also deeply excited for Curtis Sittenfeld’s Eligible. A: […]

Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck

“Tiger’s Curse” is a story that was not prepared for. I was told by several people that I needed to read this series. Oregon is my state and well this story partially takes place in a city that I am familiar with. I finally gave in and gave “Tiger’s Curse” a try and found that I loved it. I wasn’t ready to get into a huge series like this one. Imagine reading “Breaking Dawn” every book. It is thick. The beginning of “Tiger’s Curse” is very slow. I feel like as the story goes on it really picks up and […]

Island in the Sea by Anita Hughes

Island in the Sea by Anita Hughes

“Island in the Sea” by Anita Hughes was good but not as good as the past books that I have read by Hughes. I was a big disappointed on all the product names. It seemed to be more products pushing than anything else. I get that Lionel was supposed to be super famous and all but all the brand name products was unnecessary. I was really looking forward to this book because I have really liked the past novels by Hughes. I feel like “Island in the Sea” is a bit mediocre. Hughes didn’t spend a lot of time setting […]

I really, really, really, wanted to love “The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem” by Sarit Yishai-Levi but I just couldn’t. I found myself bored. I think the story is a great idea but I just couldn’t fall in love with the characters. I had a hard time getting to know Gabriela and her family. The characters were just so boring to me that I couldn’t find a way to make the story fun and memorable for me. I think the characters could have been written so much better to where the story didn’t drag on. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a […]

Nirvana by J.R. Stewart

Nirvana by J.R. Stewart

I ended up with the first eARC. Then the author updated it so I downloaded the second eARC. The second eARC was much better than the first however “Nirvana” was still not the book for me. Having read the first eARC and then getting the second one it is really hard not to compare the two. The characters ages changed. It seemed like bits and pieces of the story were disappearing. I really didn’t like it. I feel like both of the drafts came out way too soon for the story. It isn’t completely developed or thought out like it […]

An Amish Year by Beth Wiseman

An Amish Year by Beth Wiseman

I absolutely love Beth Wiseman but I did not love this. These novella stories don’t feel like Wiseman put her heart into it. It seems that she just didn’t do as good as a job or dedicated time to these stories. It was very disappointing to get two novellas that are already published and have been out for a while. I would have loved to get some of Wiseman’s writing back like it was in her first novels. Her new stuff hasn’t been able to keep me interested. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer […]
