Passenger by Alexandra Bracken is a journey. When Passenger first came out, I tried to read it but it was so slow that I had to give up. I decided to try it again this year. Knowing that the beginning of Passenger was going to be really slow due to the world building, I was more prepared for round two. As the story moved forward I became hooked. Ella gets thrown into a world that she didn’t know existed. Etta comes from a family of time travelers but she was unaware of this unique gift. It is very interesting learning […]

I was waiting for “The Siren” by Kiera Cass for what seemed like forever. The old version was taken off the shelves. I had to wait for the new version to come out by HarperTeen. I ended up getting lucky and acquired an ARC. I dove right in; however my review has been long anticipated since I finished the book a while ago. Summary: Kahlen was supposed to die. She shouldn’t have lived. Her family is gone. Miraculously, Kahlen ends up being saved by the Ocean to become a siren. Kahlen is now a very deadly weapon. She and her other Siren […]

“The Raven Boys” by Maggie Stiefvater was nothing like I was expecting. So many people told me I should read this series and I kept being iffy about it. So finally “The Raven King” is coming out so I decided to break down and buy the series. I may only have read the first book so far, but I am glad that I did. Blue Sargent is the daughter of a seer and she lives in a house full of seers but Blue is not one herself. Somehow she is able to amplify the other seers powers and help them […]

Fire Falling by Elise Kova

“Fire Falling” by Elise Kova was definitely a much better book. Everyone is always worried about whether or not the second book would be the sophomore slump book and I think Kova was able to overcome this. Kova really got into Vhalla’s character in this book. Vhalla gained so much confidence in this book. It was so great. It made me happy to see Vhalla to finally be a confident character. Kova’s writing is fantastic. She did a great job writing this book. Everything sounds great. I loved her style and how she tells the story. I think “Fire Falling” […]

“Air Awakens” by Elise Kova was enjoyable. It is the first book in a series by Elise Kova. “Air Awakens” follow Vhalla, who is a library apprentice whose research saved the life of the Crown Prince. This Prince has a fire affinity and he was able to detect Vhalla’s magic right away. Vhalla hates sorcerers and she is very against magic. To learn that she should be practicing magic, Vhalla begins several states of denial. The Prince doesn’t give up because he wants her to learn and to become who she was always meant to be. I really like how […]

I am currently reading “The Court of Mist and Fury.” I am loving the boo so far, but I have to say this is definitely not a book for teens. I am very interested to see what is going to happen to all of the characters in this one. I can’t wait to finish it. Ice like Fire by Sara Raasch

Ice like Fire by Sara Raasch

“Ice Like Fire” by Sara Raasch was a decent follow-up to the first book. I don’t think it was executed as well as the first novel, but it was still really good. The hard thing about second books is they can be a hit or a miss and I think “Ice Like Fire” is one of the lucky ones that falls somewhere in between. Meira recently found out about the truth of who she really is and now she is trying to restore her kingdom. She is no longer a nameless orphan but one of quite significant importance. She is […]

Untamed by A. G. Howard

“Untamed” by A. G. Howard was a sweet tribute to the beloved characters that we have fallen in love with. I fell in love with the “Splintered” series right away. I am a huge Alice in Wonderland fan and this seemed like such a perfect fit for me. I’ve missed these characters since I finished “Ensnared.” It was nice to get to revisit each of them again. I feel like “Untamed” was written specifically for the fans. These are for the ones that want just that little bit more of the world and characters that Howard created. “Untamed” is three […]

Teaser Tuesday: Ruined

Teaser Tuesday: Ruined

My Teaser:  The room bustled with noise around them. Tables made a half circle around the edge of the Majestic Hall, and a dance floor stretched out in front of them, with the musicians at the other end. The wedding guests were a flurry of color around them—red and orange and green gowns spinning to the music, the men in mostly white or tan, with bursts of color in the forms of flowers on their lapels. No one wore blue, as that was reserved for Em’s dress and the blue flower on Cas’s gray jacket. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is […]

Praise for “The Star – Touched Queen:”  “A setting drawn from ancient India, romance with feminist sensibilities, and a unique magic system…a stunning debut filled with lush writing, smart characters, and a mysterious plot that provides as many twists as it does swoons.” —School Library Journal, STARRED Review “Chokshi’s rich, descriptive writing weaves a lush web…a swoony romance, betrayal, and a journey to power and self-affirmation, with a slightly wicked, slightly funny animal sidekick in the best tradition… work together to create a spell that many readers will willingly succumb to.
