Book Review: Lola Carlyle’s 12-Step Romance by Danielle Younge-Ullman

Book Review: Lola Carlyle’s 12-Step Romance by Danielle Younge-Ullman

I am sad to say that this novel ended up in my Did Not Finish pile. “Lola Carlyle’s 12-Step Romance” by Danielle Younge-Ullman was nothing like what I thought it was going to be like. I feel like the synopsis is deceiving. Lola Carlyle is the daughter of a washed-up soap opera actress and a well-known director. Lola doesn’t have a good relationship with her parents. Lola decides to try to fake an addiction to try to get into rehab to try to win her crush and teen heart-throb Wade Miller. I feel like this story had a lot of language in it. […]

Book Review: Life Unaware by Cole Gibsen

Book Review: Life Unaware by Cole Gibsen

I think “Life Unaware” by Cole Gibsen ultimately has a good message about the effects of bullying and social media. It could have been a really good novel but I feel as if it just did not reach its potential at all. There was a lot of unnecessary swearing. Actually that is more of an understatement, there is  an extreme amount of unnecessary swearing. People seem to think that teenagers swear up a storm but really they don’t so I feel like this just portrays teenagers in a negative light. I think this book could have been so much better without […]

Mini Review: The ‘Naturals: Awakening

Mini Review: The ‘Naturals: Awakening
Posted February 21, 2015 by love2dazzle in Reviews, Young Adult / 0 Comments

“The Naturals: Awakening” is the introduction of a new set of short stories. In these short stories we are dealing with teenagers that aren’t so normal. Each episode focuses on a different character and is written by a different author. The teenagers all live in the same area, so the reader is getting a glimpse from several different point of views about what is going on in this town. I have to say this short tidbit is interesting. I can’t say that it perked my interest enough to want to continue the series but I do think that it may […]

Book Review: In Some Other World, Maybe by Shari Goldhagen

Book Review: In Some Other World, Maybe by Shari Goldhagen

“In Some Other World, Maybe” by Shari Goldhagen is a very interesting book. Goldhagen starts off as a strong writer with a strong story but then she seems to teeter off somewhere. Goldhagen used a time period that she was familiar with but he story was just really boring. It was really hard to stay focus on some parts of the story because it seemed to move so slowly. This book just seems like it was rushed through the publishing and editing process because it just doesn’t seem to be complete. In 1992, Adam lived in Florida. He takes his crush to a movie. […]

Book Review: Atlantia by Ally Condie

Book Review: Atlantia by Ally Condie

“Atlantia” by Ally Condie was a very pleasant surprise. I knew this story wasn’t going to be about mermaids which is what the big discussion was when the cover reveal took place. I also wasn’t expecting the story that I got. This was in a good way.  I loved “Atlantia.” I thought it was a great book. Condie writes so beautifully. Rio and Bay live in the below called “Atlantia.” When they were 15 years old, their mother dies and they have to control of their own lives. Once a year the children below can choose to either stay below or […]
