Reignited by Colleen Houck is amazing. This is one of the best novellas ever. Houck brings her readers a novella that dives into the history of the Egyptian gods. I really enjoyed diving into the Egyptian mythology. Reignited gives the reader a lot of background information for this series. Getting to know the gods was really interesting because they each are a god over something different and they act so much like whatever they are the god over. This novella is a must read. Mighty Jack and the Goblin King by Ben Hatke

Mighty Jack and the Goblin King by Ben Hatke is the best. My little brother and I really enjoy Mighty Jack and his adventures. The artwork is absolutely beautiful. Review: Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor is amazing. When Sunny’s family moved away from the United States to their native Nigeria, she was nine years old. Now 12 year old Sunny is an outsider among her classmates. Sunny is constantly bullied by other kids because of the fact that she was born in America and she is an albino.   Review: Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen brought so many feels. There are so many changes in life that you have no control over and Sarah Dessen really explored this. Ruby is turning 18 in a few months, but before she can get there her mother abandons her. Ruby ends up living with her estranged sister. I really enjoyed this story because I am currently going through my own changes in life that are out for my control. Ruby’s story touched my soul. I totally understand wanting a safe place and wanting to keep something normal. Ruby grew a […]

Excerpt: “You didn’t let these two guys rape her. They did what they did because they felt entitled. Because they wanted control. Because they were aggressive and awful. Because they wanted to feel some screwed-up sense of manhood. Because…I don’t know. Because they had a million kinds of wrong running through them. You did not make them rapists. Kerry did not make them rapists. They were already sick, and Kerry got caught in their path. He pulls my hand, and I move closer to him. Esben holds eye contact as though I am keeping him from falling apart, and I […]

Excerpt: “Did you hear that, Anna?” Bianca says as both of their heads come up at the same time. “You still want to defend her?” She gestures at me. “What happened?” “The FBI is going to start questioning ‘technocrats of interest,;’” Anna says, giving me a wary look. “They’ve generated a list, along with a registry of unique Cerepin IDs based on who’s connected to the DC network, and they’re matching them to individual users and their locations. Did you know about this?” “Is that official news?” About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in […]

Excerpt: Clarissa gave a frustrated grumble, and then shot him a look so piercing, it made him pull back at the vehemence of it. “I’m not sure I trust you anymore.” “What?” Confusion was followed immediately by exasperation. He rarely could follow her thought process, and this was one of the times he found that inability highly irritating. “How can you say that? We’re best friends.” Her mouth pressed together. “Best friends who apparently keep secrets.” About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR. Dreamfire by Kit Alloway

Dreamfire by Kit Alloway

Dreamfire by Kit Alloway was a good read. I thought the world building and romance was well written and pretty easy to follow. Alloway did a great job at bringing a unique plot to her readers. Dreamwalkers is a fun idea. Dreamwalkers are people who can enter nightmares and help resolve them for the dreamer. My biggest problem with this story is it is a bit slow to build. The reader is thrown into a world with a ton of characters with so many different names. I have to say that was a bit hard to follow up as you […]

By Your Side by Kasie West

By Your Side by Kasie West

By Your Side by Kasie West was a bit disappointing to me. I am not a huge contemporary reader but I have always enjoyed West’s contemporaries. I feel like By Your Side fell a bit short. Autumn was not a desirable character. I felt like she was a bit self centered especially since she wasn’t willing to explain her behavior to her friends. Dax on the other hand was great most of the time. There are a few things that I don’t  like about Dax but he is a much better character than Autumn. When Autumn and Dax get stuck […]

Book Review: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl By Jesse Andrews

Book Review: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl By Jesse Andrews
Posted October 6, 2016 by paperrdolls in Reviews, Young Adult / 0 Comments

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is far from your typical YA cancer book. I found myself gobsmacked and laughing a hundred times more than crying, and that’s probably because I didn’t shed one tear. Not one. Greg Gaines is a mess, he may be the most awkward character I’ve come across thus far. He tries to fly under the radar and I don’t blame him. Again the kid is a mess. Earl, well Earl just has a bunch of issues I felt a lot of kids these days could really relate to. Dad’s gone and Mom can’t function. […]
