Everless by Sara Holland is so good. This story was so much more than what I was expecting and I really enjoyed it. Everless starts out a bit slow but I found that it began to pick up the pace as we were introduced to the castle of Everless. Once inside Everless, I feel like there was so much going on. Jules lives in a world where time is drawn from your blood and is turned into currency. Punishment comes from your blood. You pay your bills with your blood. It is quite interesting to see how these people are […]

You Don’t Want My Shoes

Posted December 29, 2017 by love2dazzle in Features, Random Thoughts / 0 Comments

You know when people say that you should walk a mile in their shoes so you would understand how they feel or what it is like to be them? You don’t want my shoes. 2017 has been a rough year for me. I lost my a job without there being any reason for me losing my job. I struggled to find a new position and felt defeated with every interview and job decline. When I was finally offered a job, I had to take a paycut. Which kind of sucked but I made it work. In the end I got […]

Between the Blade and the Heart Blog Tour: Review, Giveaway, Q&A, and Excerpt

Q&A with Amanda Hocking   Q: What or who was the inspiration behind Between the Blade and the Heart? A: I have already written several books inspired by Scandinavian folklore, and I was always fascinated by Valkyries. But because I had already done in Scandinavian fantasy, I wanted to come at this one from a different angle. I imagined the Valkyries helping to police a gritty, diverse, cyberpunk metropolis, in a world filled with not just Norse figures but from many mythologies.   Q: What are the life lessons that you want readers to glean from your book? A: That […]

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer is a lot different than I was expecting. I really enjoyed it. This story is mostly a retelling of Sleeping Beauty but there is a bit of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland mixed in too. I was surprise to find that a good check on this book takes place with the faeries. Isabelle and Aurora are half sisters. Poor Isabelle is an illegitimate child of the King’s and so she isn’t treated very well. Her sight was taken by the fairies as payment for a change in Aurora’s curse. Aurora has lost her voice and sense […]

Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith is written very lovely. Smith brings her readers beautiful conversations that make your heart break. This book deals with loss, death, and poverty. I found myself having a hard time with this because there is so much selfishness. The story just seemed to drag on. Windfall was not the book for me. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR.
