Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer is a lot different than I was expecting. I really enjoyed it. This story is mostly a retelling of Sleeping Beauty but there is a bit of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland mixed in too. I was surprise to find that a good check on this book takes place with the faeries. Isabelle and Aurora are half sisters. Poor Isabelle is an illegitimate child of the King’s and so she isn’t treated very well. Her sight was taken by the fairies as payment for a change in Aurora’s curse. Aurora has lost her voice and sense […]

Hi Everyone, I am the owner of Stub Tail Candle Co. in Portland, OR. We are a small candle company that creates candles inspired by books and fandoms. One of the things that make us unique is we donate a portion of our sales to Animal Rescues. For this giving Tuesday, I wanted to share why we’ve decided to donate a portion of our sales. Growing up I didn’t have pets. My mom is allergic so we didn’t have any. I had many friends and relatives that did and I always enjoyed getting to play with them. I especially loved […]

Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith is written very lovely. Smith brings her readers beautiful conversations that make your heart break. This book deals with loss, death, and poverty. I found myself having a hard time with this because there is so much selfishness. The story just seemed to drag on. Windfall was not the book for me. The Fire Queen by Emily R. King is an amazing follow up to The Hundredth Queen. Fair warning, this book can’t be read without reading the first book or a lot of events and conversations won’t make sense. Kalinda is finally free from her new husband but her country is falling to pieces. She is off on an adventure to find her late husband’s first born Prince Ashwin. The last thing that Kalinda wants is to be Queen. On this strange journey, Kalinda’s group splits up and Kalinda is taken straight to the Prince. When Kalinda arrives at the Janardanian […]

Death and Night by Roshani Chokshi is a great little insight to The Star-Touched Queen. I have to say that I actually enjoyed Death and Night way more than The Star-Touched Queen. It was great getting to know Maya and Amar better. Their story is so sweet and interesting. Chokshi writes very beautifully in this novella.
