Mini Review: The Guard by Kiera Cass

Mini Review: The Guard by Kiera Cass

I loved getting to see into Aspen’s mind. Aspen isn’t my favorite character but I have to say that I was definitely excited to see his point of view. I could really tell that Aspen cared about America a lot but I could also see that he looked at the situation selfishly too. Seeing how the guards acted around each other and than how they acted around the royals and elite gave a really good perspective on what goes on in the palace where there aren’t cameras and pressure for the “game show.” I think Cass did a great job […]

Book Review: My Not So Super Sweet Life by Rachel Harris

Book Review: My Not So Super Sweet Life by Rachel Harris

I have been waiting for this novella for what seems like a lifetime. Rachel Harris is one of my absolute favorite authors, so any work of hers has me anxiously waiting. I was excited to have a copy waiting in my inbox on release day. So excited that I downloaded it right away, only to forget both my ipad and iphone at home. “My Not So Super Sweet Life” takes off roughly around where the reader left off in “A Tale of Two Centuries.” Cat and Lucas just started dating, and it is nice to see Cat with someone that […]

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Where to start? “Divergent” by Veronica Roth was absolutely fantastic. I can’t believe that I didn’t jump on this ban wagon three years ago when it first started. I know the reason why I didn’t, I knew that I would want to binge read the series and if I had to wait for a year between each book, I didn’t think I would be able to survive. Since “Divergent” is coming out soon in the theaters, I figured i needed to read the book as soon as possible. How do I explain “Divergent” without giving a ton of spoilers away. […]

Book Review: Don’t Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski

Book Review: Don’t Even Think About It by Sarah Mlynowski

“Don’t Even Think About It” by Sarah Mlynowski was definitely an interesting tale. Children who develop telepathic powers from a vaccine was a little out there. The synopsis pulled me into the storyline that I wanted to see what “Don’t Even Think About It” was truly about, unfortunately I was disappointed. Almost an entire homeroom received the flu vaccination and the next day 11 students started out with the telepathic powers. As the day went on and even the next day, more students started to show symptoms of the powers.  The group of students decided to keep their new powers […]

Book Review: Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter

“I looked around, counting the competition. Sixteen. To win, all I had to do was incapacitate each one, place my hand over their hearts and turn my palm into a flame. Easy….Yeah right.” I was expecting this to be Alice in Wonderland turned Zombie however there were only a couple actual references to the Lewis Carroll story. Alice follows the white rabbit holding a clock a lot because it warns her about what is to come, however it is the chapter titles in the book that are the main connection to the curious story of Alice in Wonderland. This novel was very fun and entertaining. I […]

“Before I Fall” by Lauren Oliver was a very enjoyable book. Everyone looks forward to Cupid day to find out who will receive the most roses because that shows how popular you really are.  As Sam gets out of her bed and gets […]

Book Review: The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

Book Review: The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan

“The Mark of Athena” by Rick Riordan was better than I expected. I really thought that Percy Jackson would die out and would become a topic of old. Percy Jackson just keeps getting better. “The Mark of Athena” is the next part of everyone’s journey. There is a new prophecy to fulfill and  now two camps have to work as one. What do you do when you have to work with your sworn enemies? What happens when other forces are at work to cause issues? These are lessons that Percy and his friends have to learn. At the end of […]
