Book Review: Second Star by Alyssa Sheinmel

Book Review: Second Star by Alyssa Sheinmel

“Second Star” by Alyssa Sheinmel was extremely disappointing. I really like the story of Peter Pan and as a big Peter Pan fan, I may have had too high of hopes for “Second Star.” I just found myself bored or lost a lot. Having the character set as surfers in a surfing environment was a weird place to start in general. I was trying to follow the path that Sheinmel was trying to take but I could not get into the story at all. I thought it was weird creating this world that Wendy Darling was hallucinating in. It was […]

Woah! What to say? I am still trying to get over my book hangover. Here is the low down (if you haven’t read Divergent or Insurgent yet, I would walk away now because things will be spoiled for you. BUT…there are no spoilers for Allegiant). Tris, Four, Christina, Cara, and several others venture out beyond the wall. To discover old and new friends already living there. Not only do they go through the process of finding out what is beyond the wall but they also have to process what the world is really like. Roth has done a good job […]

Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

“Insurgent” starts out where “Divergent” left off and let me just start by saying I am not a happy camper at all. I was extremely disappointed. I felt like “Insurgent” was disappointing compared to “Divergent.” Tris lost all of her appeal and in general she would make me mad. I felt like “Insurgent” was just so slow. I thought “Divergent” kept a really good pace, things flowed quite nicely and the reader was able to keep on going but with “Insurgent” there is another story. “Insurgent” played out so slowly. I felt like I was dragging my feet the entire […]

“Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend” by Katie Finn was a very cute read. I loved getting to know Gemma Tucker. Gemma’s boyfriend Teddy broke up with her in target and destroyed all of her summer plans with him. Gemma finds out that her mom and step dad will be away for the summer so they want to ship her off to the Hampton’s to be with her dad. The Hampton’s is the last place that Gemma wants to go  because of memories from years ago. When Gemma meets Josh on the train to the Hampton’s, she thinks […]

I have to say that I have been anxiously waiting to read “Juliette’s Journal.” When it was announced that we would be able to read it, I was so very excited. Mainly because I so badly wanted to see what she would write about. We had little bits of exposure along the way, but to actually see it and read it was an exciting moment. I don’t know how to explain it. I loved the chance to get further inside Juliette’s mind. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR. An avid reader […]

Oh my goodness gracious! Where do I start? I thought I was on Team Adam before but after “Fracture Me,” I am not sure what I want to happen. I was quite disappointed with Adam’s attitude regarding everything. I would have to say that the only time I even liked Adam was when he was caring for his little brother. I was just really disappointed about how Adam reacted to situations. Adam talked about how much he loved Juliette and all of the things that he would do for her, it was disappointing to read about his inner thoughts and […]

Mini Review: The Guard by Kiera Cass

Mini Review: The Guard by Kiera Cass

I loved getting to see into Aspen’s mind. Aspen isn’t my favorite character but I have to say that I was definitely excited to see his point of view. I could really tell that Aspen cared about America a lot but I could also see that he looked at the situation selfishly too. Seeing how the guards acted around each other and than how they acted around the royals and elite gave a really good perspective on what goes on in the palace where there aren’t cameras and pressure for the “game show.” I think Cass did a great job […]

I have been waiting for this novella for what seems like a lifetime. Rachel Harris is one of my absolute favorite authors, so any work of hers has me anxiously waiting. I was excited to have a copy waiting in my inbox on release day. So excited that I downloaded it right away, only to forget both my ipad and iphone at home. “My Not So Super Sweet Life” takes off roughly around where the reader left off in “A Tale of Two Centuries.” Cat and Lucas just started dating, and it is nice to see Cat with someone that […]

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Book Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Where to start? “Divergent” by Veronica Roth was absolutely fantastic. I can’t believe that I didn’t jump on this ban wagon three years ago when it first started. I know the reason why I didn’t, I knew that I would want to binge read the series and if I had to wait for a year between each book, I didn’t think I would be able to survive. Since “Divergent” is coming out soon in the theaters, I figured i needed to read the book as soon as possible. How do I explain “Divergent” without giving a ton of spoilers away. […]
