I’ve never seen the movie Labyrinth, so my dislike of this book is not because it didn’t compare to the movie. I was extremely excited to dive into this book. I soon found myself very disappointed with Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. The main character Elisabeth is extremely whiny and annoying. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t get into this story. It is really hard to like a character that comes across pathetic and uninteresting. The Goblin didn’t help himself either. I found myself not wanting to finish this book at all. My determination made me finish especially […]

By Your Side by Kasie West

By Your Side by Kasie West was a bit disappointing to me. I am not a huge contemporary reader but I have always enjoyed West’s contemporaries. I feel like By Your Side fell a bit short. Autumn was not a desirable character. I felt like she was a bit self centered especially since she wasn’t willing to explain her behavior to her friends. Dax on the other hand was great most of the time. There are a few things that I don’t  like about Dax but he is a much better character than Autumn. When Autumn and Dax get stuck […]

It took me awhile to read Fairest by Marissa Meyer because I wasn’t sure if I could feel sympathetic towards Levana. I also wasn’t sure if I wanted to know her story. After reading the new graphic novel Wires and Nerves by Marissa Meyer, I decided I wanted to get to know Levana more. I was ready. Fairest was amazing. I was so surprised at the content that I got. I felt so bad for everything Levana went through. Now this didn’t mean I liked her because she is still the villain that I love to hate but this book […]

Piecing Me Together Blog Tour: Interview, Review, and Giveaway.

Review: Piecing Me Together by Renee Watson is a powerful story about a girl from a poor neighborhood striving to find a way to succeed. I loved how this story covered the facts on finding yourself and also what it means to be a girl of color in America. This story was filled with so much heart and I fell in love with it.  Piecing Me Together covers issues like race, discrimination, art, friendship, and feminism. With everything this book covers it had a lot of information compacted into it. Jade is a student at a school filled with mostly white […]

A Million Worlds With You by Claudia Gay is a fantastic wrap up to this series. When I first started this series I was a bit iffy about it. Then book two really got my attention. This series ended with a bang in A Million Worlds With You. In book three all the dimensions are coming together to stop Conley, from Triadverse, from destroying them all. Wicked, the evil Marguerite that is also from Triadverse, keeps trying to kill off all the other Marguerite’s. So our Marguerite is trying to say each one of her dimension selves by trying to […]

Empire of Storms by Sarah J Maas

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas is a book I would love to hate. Don’t get me wrong, I still liked the book. I think it could have been so much better. Not to mention to have a quote like this: “The world will be saved and remade by the dreamers.” Who wouldn’t love a quote like that? I really enjoyed Elide’s point of view. I thought Maas did an excellent job with her story. Elide doesn’t realize that her Queen and Celaena are one and the same. Elide came a long way in this book. She started out […]

Passenger by Alexandra Bracken is a journey. When Passenger first came out, I tried to read it but it was so slow that I had to give up. I decided to try it again this year. Knowing that the beginning of Passenger was going to be really slow due to the world building, I was more prepared for round two. As the story moved forward I became hooked. Ella gets thrown into a world that she didn’t know existed. Etta comes from a family of time travelers but she was unaware of this unique gift. It is very interesting learning […]

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness is so good. I think A Monster Calls is an excellent coming of age story. This book is going to make any reader emotional. I love that the focus is truth. Not just the truth to tell to others but speaking the truth to yourself. Connor O’Malley suffers from nightmares. he seems to have a requiring nightmare of his mom. he wakes up ever time just before the nightmare ends. then Connor has a new dream, a yew tree comes to life to tell Connor three stories. When the yew tree is done with […]

Flawed by Cecelia Ahern is absoultely amazing. i can’t even express how much I love this book. Flawed is about Celestine, she lives in a society where people get branded if they are found flawed and not perfect. If you are proven to be flawed, jlife changes as you know it. A flawed member of society no longer has the freedom to do what they want, eat what they want, stay out late, have privacy, and much more. This society is ruled by a government known as the Guild. The Guild is  like a court of judges. The world is not a […]
