Review: Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor is amazing. When Sunny’s family moved away from the United States to their native Nigeria, she was nine years old. Now 12 year old Sunny is an outsider among her classmates. Sunny is constantly bullied by other kids because of the fact that she was born in America and she is an albino. When Sunny sees a vision of the world’s future, she learns that she is a Leopard, or a person that has magical abilities. This starts Sunny’s journey and the reader is in for an incredible ride. I really liked the opening […]

The Inevitable Collision of Birdie & Bash Blog Tour

Review: The Inevitable Collison of Birdie and Bash by Candace Ganger is center around a huge tragic event. Bash and his friend are in a car that runs over Birdie’s little brother. Birdie’s little brother has a slim chance of survival from this accident. Unfortunately, no one takes responsibility for this accident. When Bash and Birdie end up working together at the local skating rink, Bash has a hard time keeping his secret. Bash struggles a lot internally with whether he should tell Birdie what he did. Like a River Glorious by Rae Carson is so incredibly good. I can’t believe it took me so long to dive into this amazing sequel. Carson brings back her amazing characters and story line. I am a huge fan of Walk on Earth a Stranger and Like a River Glorious is just as good. I love Leah. She is such a great character and she has grown so much. Now in California, Leah is trying not to get caught. she knows that her uncle will eventually find her and she wants to be ready for when he does. I really […]

Now I Rise Blog Tour: Review and Giveaway

Review: Now I Rise by Kiesten White is phenomenal. This retelling of Vlad the Impaler as Lada is amazing. I love how Lada is just like Vlad in being mean and blood thirsty. She is nto going to let anyone or anything get in the way of her claiming her kingdom. White does an amazing job bringing this fierce and determined woman that wants to conquer the world wit blood and making the reader feel sympathy for her. Now I Rise is told in two stories. One from Lada’s point of view while she is trying to reclaim her birthright, […]

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon is amazing. I love Dimple and Rishi’s story. These two characters fit together so well. Dimple is headstrong and determined. Rishi is under the expectation that Dimple knows that he is coming to Insomnia Con. to meet him. Dimple knows no such thing. This begins a whirlwind of events that brought so much joy to my life. Maud by Melanie J. Fishbane shows how much work Fishbane put into this novel. I don’t know much about Maud except that she wrote Anne of Green Gables. Which of course Anne of Green Gables. Which of course Anne of Green Gables is amazing. As I was reading Maud, I could tell that Fishbane put in a lot of research for this book. Maud is such a great character. I love the strength that Maud is able to pull from inside herself. Her strength is so inspiring. All Maud wanted to do was be a writer and she accomplished her […]

The Gold-Son by Carrie Anne Noble

The Gold-Son by Carrie Anne Noble is charming and delightful. The Gold-Son reads a lot like a fiary tale story with a bit of a modern twist. This story has a great folk lore presence. I enjoyed the characters a lot. Tommin Kelly is always wanting to steal things. He doesn’t understand why. If only he knew his heritage. IT is hard when you don’t know the truth about who you are and where you come from. This is what Tommin had to deal with all the time. Carrie Anne Noble brings a beautiful story to her readers. As a […]

Breaking Blog Tour: Review and Giveaway

Breaking Blog Tour: Review and Giveaway

Review: Breaking by Danielle Rollins is the companion novel to Burning. I think Breaking should be listed as a sequel because you need a lot of knowledge from Burning for everything to make sense. I think Breaking is more of a ya-thriller than Burning was too. These characters drew me in right away. I was extremely interested in Charlotte’s life and how it would connect with Angela’s from Burning. Breaking is very mysterious and I enjoyed trying to figure out the mystery. I think Charlotte’s character is interesting. Her best friends committed suicide but she doesn’t know why. Charlotte […]

Burning by Danielle Rollins is a ya-thriller but I didn’t find it as creepy as it sounded. A 10 year old girl with odd abilities shows up at a juvenile detention center and weird things begin to happen. This book didn’t wrap up as well as I would have liked but I still found myself enjoying it. This story is really enjoyable. Rollins’ writing is strong and she created some great characters. Angela is a great main character. Her story is what kept me going with this story. I wanted to see what would happen to her. Rollins did a […]
