The Moth Presents All These Wonders is a great collection of stories. I really enjoyed this book. Going into this book, I wasn’t sure what to expect but I found myself being amazed. I enjoyed the individual voice of each author. I don’t read a lot of memoirs but I really enjoyed this one. Parsons does a great job sharing the history of Amaro and his personal notes. I really enjoyed his thoughts. I thought the cocktail recipes where awesome. I think this is a great start for those dipping their toes into Amaro. It is really unique and I like that there are do it yourself directions in the back. One of the Few by Jason B. Ladd

One of the Few by Jason B. Ladd

“One of the Few” by Jason B. Ladd covers so many complex topics. The book really digs deep to bring out some thought-provoking questions. Ladd starts the reader off with discussing his childhood and how he grow up and then goes through and shares his military experiences. Ladd was looking for true faith and where to find it. I think Ladd does a great job sharing his experience and explaining all of the military terms. I appreciated that Ladd took the time to find examples that made sense to me. The pop culture references added a bit of flair and […]

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling

I didn’t read Mindy Kaling’s first book. Her second book “Why Not Me?” by Mindy Kaling is really good. This memoir is funny but also a bit lacking. This memoir focuses on what has changed the last three years with Kaling getting her own tv show. I am proud that Kaling shares that making people like her is no longer her main focus. More people need to lose the focus of trying to make people like them. I think Kaling does a great job making this point know. Kaling adds a lot of humor to her book, but it is […]

Book Review: My (Part-time) Paris Life by Lisa Anselmo

Book Review: My (Part-time) Paris Life by Lisa Anselmo

Anselmo is a great writer. I enjoyed reading her memoir, “My (Part-time) Paris Life.” After Anselmo lost her mother, she started a new life in Paris. It is a brave thing to do, opening up about your fears. I think the hard part about this memoir is that it is extremely repetitive. I think the focus around food is a bit much. Bravo to Anselmo for taking the leap and writing her memoir. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, OR. Sweeter off the Vine: Fruit Desserts for Every Season

Sweeter off the Vine: Fruit Desserts for Every Season

“Sweeter off the Vine” by Yossy Arefi a cook book that is dedicated to fruit desserts. I really like that the recipes are broken up by each season. This gives the baker a chance to look what is available during the time of year they are wanting to make something. I think this makes things extremely helpful.  I don’t know how many times I wanted to make something to find out that I can’t get specific fruits or vegetables because of the year. The pictures are amazing. It is extremely helpful to have great pictures that go along with the […]

You First by Lea Michele

You First by Lea Michele

“You First” by Lea Michele was a decent guided journal. This guided journal is really family focused rather than personal or goal focused. I think it would be great to incorporate some more personal focused items in there. I thought the journal itself was lovely. I would have liked the journal to focus more on a specific topic rather than trying to cover one topic of each page. I feel like there is a lot more to explore than what was provided for the person journaling. About love2dazzle Ali Kiki is a reader, writer, reviewer, blogger, and photographer in Portland, […]

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Kim Barker

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Kim Barker
Posted February 25, 2016 by love2dazzle in Non-Fiction, Reviews / 0 Comments

“Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” by Kim Barker is a memoir of her time in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I was expecting to get in depth about the War that our country has been going through for so long but this book really just falls completely flat. The book is completely shallow. I really don’t feel like I got to truly know what was going on. Instead it focused more on Barker herself rather than what Barker was experiencing. The author went to Afghanistan and Pakistan without a clue as to what she was getting herself into. The story focuses more on he […]

Book Review: Design the Life You Love: A Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Meaningful Future

I like that “Design the Life You Love” is focused around an individuals creativity. This isn’t just another self help book that tells you how to change. This is a self help book that makes you think and decide on what you want your life to look like. The book is very simple, there isn’t a whole lot to it. I really like that it is to bring out the creative side of a person. It is supposed to help them decide what is best for them and how they will change things in their own lives. I think there […]

Book Review: This May Sound Crazy by Abigail Breslin

Book Review: This May Sound Crazy by Abigail Breslin

Abigail Breslin has a book?! Okay so I was intrigued but not impress. Lots of celebrities have books now. Why should Breslin be any different? One day I was bored and wandering around, so I picked of Breslin’s book just to take a look at it. I scanned it as I was waiting and found that I really liked the unique style that the book was written in. I don’t know if that was Breslin’s idea or the editor’s but I was very intrigued and wanted to read further. I decided to order my own copy. Little did I know […]
