Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn't think they'd survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they're right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and left crippled by the kidnapping of a valuable team member, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz's cunning and test the team's fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city's dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of magic in the Grisha world.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo was marvelous and sinister. I really like Crooked Kingdom. Bardugo takes her readers on a wild and crazy ride. The action and tension in this book kept me on the edge of my seat.

The characters are amazing. I recently reviewed Six of Crows where I raved about each member of the Dreg. I feel like this story gets better and better as time went on. I found myself not being able to put Crooked Kingdom down. Kaz, Nina, Inej, Matthias, Wylan, and Jesper are fabulous characters. I am in love with each and everyone of them. Each character really grew up from book two. It is great seeing characters develop within just two books.

I wanted so many characters to get a happy ending. Well…that didn’t’ happen Bardugo of course ripped my heart out. It was sad to say goodbye to these great characters. I am excited to go read Bardugo’s first series because I really enjoyed these two books. I definitely recommend this duology to anyone who wants some really good heart wrenching fantasy.
