The Queen’s Poisoner by Jeff Wheeler

The Queen’s Poisoner by Jeff Wheeler

“The Queen’s Poisoner” by Jeff Wheeler is my first novel by Wheeler. I thought the story was great. The writing though was a bit choppy. We will get to that. The characters were very well developed and written in this story. I found myself really liking the characters and enjoying to get to know them. Owen is eight years old and was sent to be a prisoner for the King. Owen’s father had committed treason and Owen’s brother was executed. Owen’s character is a very believable eight year old. He isn’t brave right way and he has normal fears but […]

My Teaser: When Solomon opened the door, he looked a little better. Lisa could tell he’d wiped away a few tears, but he didn’t look especially sad or ashamed or anything. Maybe a bit tired, but with as little sunlight as he got, he always kind of looked that way. He told them to come back in and then sat down at his desk again. About love2dazzle Hey, I’m Ali. The Crown’s Game by Evelyn Skye

“The Crown’s Game” by Evelyn Skye has been one of my most anticipated reads of 2016. I was lucky enough to be blessed with an ARC. Two opposing enchanters are set against each other in something called ‘The Crown’s Game.’ This ‘Crown’s Game’ is to compete to see who will get to be the Imperial Enchanter for the Tsar. This novel takes place in Imperial Russia. I don’t know too much about Imperial Russia but it was definitely a lot of fun to get to know. The concept of this ‘Crown’s Game’ was so interesting because it wasn’t just a […]

“The Raven Boys” by Maggie Stiefvater was nothing like I was expecting. So many people told me I should read this series and I kept being iffy about it. So finally “The Raven King” is coming out so I decided to break down and buy the series. I may only have read the first book so far, but I am glad that I did. Blue Sargent is the daughter of a seer and she lives in a house full of seers but Blue is not one herself. Somehow she is able to amplify the other seers powers and help them […]

“Fire Falling” by Elise Kova was definitely a much better book. Everyone is always worried about whether or not the second book would be the sophomore slump book and I think Kova was able to overcome this. Kova really got into Vhalla’s character in this book. Vhalla gained so much confidence in this book. It was so great. It made me happy to see Vhalla to finally be a confident character. Kova’s writing is fantastic. She did a great job writing this book. Everything sounds great. I loved her style and how she tells the story. I think “Fire Falling” […]

“Air Awakens” by Elise Kova was enjoyable. It is the first book in a series by Elise Kova. “Air Awakens” follow Vhalla, who is a library apprentice whose research saved the life of the Crown Prince. This Prince has a fire affinity and he was able to detect Vhalla’s magic right away. Vhalla hates sorcerers and she is very against magic. To learn that she should be practicing magic, Vhalla begins several states of denial. The Prince doesn’t give up because he wants her to learn and to become who she was always meant to be. I really like how […]

The Bad Boy’s Baby by Cindi Madsen

“The Bad Boy’s Baby” by Cindi Madsen was such a cute read. Which doesn’t surprise me at all. Madsen always has the sweetest love stories. Cam is out of the military and is back to work with his brother at a lodge in the mountains. Cam had an abusive father growing up and his mother wasn’t around. This created some anger issues for Cam that he works on every day to overcome. Our other main characters is Emma. Emma is the mother of a beautiful little girl named Zoey. Zoey is two years old and has never known her father. […]
